Job Description:
The Technical Operator is responsible for producing desired output by maintaining high standard of quality required by our customers in a safe and efficient manner. In addition, must be able to make product changes efficiently and maintain a smooth uninterrupted flow of product. The Technical Operator must be able to work with all members of the crew and departments as a team. 


Reports to: Shift Supervisor


Job Purpose: 
Operate equipment in an effective and efficient manner according to company standards, specifications and policies. To produce quality mineral fiber ceiling tile products within the Company’s parameters of quality, material efficiency, and time efficiency. In addition, maintain a clean, safe and efficient workplace.


Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

Safety 

·         Remains familiar with the potential dangers involved in the job and take appropriate safety measures
·         This job involves working with moving conveyors, saws, heating and branding equipment and granulators
·         Informs supervisor if a person’s lock is unsafe to remove by the end 
·         of your shift so that it may be replaced by a supervisor lock
·         Must have a complete understanding of the lockout procedure and what machines need to be locked out in area             of responsibility 

Environment 

Collaborates with Environmental Manager to ensure operation is within EPA guidelines 


Quality 

·         Packages all products according to product/customer specifications.
·         Ensures that all products meet minimum or better quality specifications, including but not limited to: surface                       structure, visual defects on both surface and edges  
·         Contacts supervisor if product is outside of specifications Monitors production line to ensure product is produced            with the least amount of downtime and waste
·         Records quality results
·         Informs Supervisor of deficiencies in quality and corrective action taken

Box Packaging:
·         Operation and supervision of shrink machine and heating tunnel
·         Packages product delicately and in a timely manner in order to ensure smooth flow of product is maintained as well as making sure product being packaged is not being damaged
·         Packages product into correct boxes with correct quantity according to product packaging specifications
·         Ensures box label coincides with product type and quantity in box
Pallets Packaging:
·         Packages boxes on pallets in correct position, ensures correct quantity and product type according to packaging specifications
·         Packages boxes on pallets precisely and in a timely manner, ensuring a smooth flow of product is maintained, while ensuring quality of the product is not compromised.

Operation Execution - General


·         Reports the quantity of the created / rejected deficiencies dependent on the cause of its creation
·         Segregates waste according to the current instructions
·         Reporting to the supervisor all the irregularities related to the work of subordinate devices
·         In cooperation with Maintenance Department, ensures the proper functioning of equipment and quick and safe removal of failures and machinery problems
·         Informs Supervisor and relevant shifts of any problem or tasks in need of attention
·         Plans product changes to have the least amount of stress put on the equipment as possible
·         Communicates any unusual conditions, equipment breakdowns, needs for repair, reasons for increase or decrease of production etc. to cross shift operator
·         Completes shutdown tasks according to shut down procedures or checklist  
·         Performs any other tasks as necessary or designated
·         Other duties as may be assigned by the Production Lead or Supervisor  

Cleaning: 

·         Maintains a clean and tidy control area
·         Cleans devices and machinery upon completion of each production cycle
·         Assists others as needed with their area of cleaning responsibility
·         Completes and submits cleaning and start-up checklist, notating any tasks that are incomplete

Physical Work Environment & Conditions

·         Must be able to stand/walk on concrete floors for 8 or more hours during the course of a day.
·         Plant environment will be dusty with airborne wool particles.
·         Must be able to work in a fast-paced high volume production facility.
·         Some lifting, bending, stooping, walking up/down stairs, fast pace walking for some distance.
·         The ability to lift 60 pounds and 120 pounds with another person 
·         The ability to shovel heavy waste to shoulder height 
·         The ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions for several hours daily while wearing protective + safety equipment required.

Documentation

·         Maintains accurate group lock out records, secure initials as required
·         Maintains accurate production cleaning records secure initials as required
·         Maintains accurate equipment start-up records 
·         Maintains testing logs

Professional Skills – Essential 

·         Minimum 1 year machine operations or quality control experience. Manufacturing experience preferred.
·         Good understanding of H+S requirements and works in a safe manner
·         Self-motivated with the drive, commitment and high energy to motivate others
·         Good people skills
·         The ability to read and understand written instructions and product specifications
·         High school diploma or equivalent

Professional Skills –Desirable

·         Understanding of key figures and how to maximize production output
·         Quality Control/Assurance background
·         Forklift experience/certification
Compensation: $20.00 - $20.50 per hour
